Since When Did We Feature The Dead? – Ponobiom Asks Sarkodie In Latest Song
Ponobiom, formerly known as Yaa Pono, the Ghanaian rapper, just dropped a new song named “Yard” which is apparently a direct jab at Sarkodie, Ghana's most celebrated rapper.
The Sarkodie and Bob Marley feature recently made headlines. Ghanaians were ecstatic with this event, which they saw as a major victory for Sarkodie and Ghana.
After then, various musicians expressed contrasting opinions regarding the feature, criticizing the multiple award-winning rapper.
Shatta Wale, the dancehall performer, complained that Sarkodie had included a ghost and that this was not much of an accomplishment to be celebrated.
In keeping with this, Yaa Pono just released a diss track that has gone viral on social media.
Since when do we highlight the deceased? Pono rapped, declaring that any effort to exclude him from the list of rappers from Tema is a waste of time.
Ponobiom bragged about his skills and asserted his dominance over other rappers in the song. He brags about playing every weekend at events. He claimed that he has been the target of spiritual attacks and said that several players in the industry fear him.
He rapped in the Twi language and declared himself to be the ruler of the rap music genre, saying, “Monkeys, some of your fans will still hail me.”
“Who runs this yard?” “It's Pono who runs this yard.”
Because of the song's punchy lyrics and several sections that specifically mention the landlord, many believe it is directed towards Sarkodie.
What motivated Yaa Pono to release this song is unknown. But over the last week, Sarkodie has been under criticism for disobeying and insulting his coworkers when it comes to fulfilling feature requests.
