Shatta Wale doesn’t deserve A diplomatic Passport – Ola Michael Disagrees with Ex-France Ambassador
Ghanaian filmmaker and events producer Ola Michael has said that Ghanaian musician Shatta wale Do not deserve a Diplomatic Passport as proposed by Former French ambassador to Ghana Anne Sophie Avé.
Few days ago Former French ambassador to Ghana Anne Sophie Avé has recommended that the Nana Addo Danquah administration take into account issuing diplomatic passports to those musicians who have been promoting Ghana abroad through their music.
She emphasized in a tweet the important role these performers have played in promoting Ghana's entertainment sector on a worldwide scale. She thinks it would be advantageous for the government to grant these people diplomatic passports.
It seems this Statement By the Former French ambassador to Ghana didn't go well with Ola Michael, according to him Shatta Wale doesn't deserve A diplomatic Passport. In a panel discussion on UTV United showbiz, Ola Michael's critique centers on the premise that a diplomatic passport is traditionally reserved for high-ranking government officials, diplomats, and individuals who represent their countries in international affairs. Shatta Wale's prominence in the music scene, while commendable, does not necessarily align with the requirements typically associated with diplomatic passport holders.
Michael argues that the honor should be bestowed upon those who have demonstrated a significant commitment to public service and contributed substantially to the country's global reputation.
On the other hand, Beverly Afaglo contend that shatter wale influence and popularity as an artist have undeniably contributed to promoting Ghanaian culture and music on the international stage. They argue that his impact on the country's positive image abroad makes him a worthy candidate for such recognition.
Nonetheless, the debate continues to stir discussions on the appropriate criteria for awarding diplomatic privileges, reigniting conversations on the intersection between entertainment and official state affairs.
