I Wanted To Be A Caterer But There Was No Money To Send Me To Vocational School – Empress Gifty Reveals

Empress Gifty

recently unveiled a personal aspiration that took an unexpected turn due to financial constraints. The renowned artist disclosed her desire to pursue a career as a caterer, but her ambitions were thwarted by a lack of funds to enroll in a vocational school. This revelation sheds light on the challenges she faced and the hurdles she had to overcome in order to navigate her career path.

's candid confession underscores the significance of financial barriers that often hinder individuals from pursuing their chosen vocations. Despite her initial setback, she managed to pivot and carve a successful trajectory in the music industry.

Her journey serves as an inspiration, illustrating the resilience and adaptability required to overcome obstacles and find alternative routes to achieve one's goals. Empress Gifty's story resonates as a testament to the power of determination and resourcefulness in the face of adversity.

Speaking in an exclusive  interview with Giovanni Caleb and AJ Sarpong on the 3FM Drive, the ‘Aseda' hitmaker indicated  that her dream was to become a caterer but her mother did not have money so she had to work as a maid for her mother's friend.

“I wanted to be a caterer but my mum said she didn't have money so I'd have to work for her friend who will pay then the money will be used for my schooling,” she said.

The singer's maidservant responsibilities were, regrettably, keeping her from working in God's vineyard because she was a young lady actively interested in church activities. When she wanted to leave work for a church event, her superiors would allegedly always object, so she begged her mother for permission to resign.

“When I started this, whenever I asked for permission to leave for church activities, they didn't understand. When you are going, they always question you. Looking at the zeal and passion I have for the things of God, I didn't want anything to distract me so I told my mum that the woman doesn't understand my calling. I told her that I want to stop the work,” she said.

The singer continued by saying that she was able to win her mother's approval, albeit with certain restrictions. “My mother said it was okay if I stopped, but I would have to go into fashion designing,” she explained. You must gain knowledge. I therefore had to change my purpose. My mother was a great support, and God was so nice to me. God is using the voice and gift he given me to accomplish this.
