Burna Boy, Davido And Wizkid Are Bigger Than Ghanaian Musicians – Shatta Wale
Shatta Wale has asserts that Ghanaian musicians like himself cannot be compared to Nigerian musicians like Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid.
In a conversation with Takoradi-based Empire FM, he claimed that the faster ascent of Nigerian musicians to stardom was due to the ardent support of their fellow citizens.
Shatta Wale gave examples of times when singers from Nigeria, including Davido and Burna Boy, visited Ghana and formed strong bonds with him in order to emphasize the oneness and camaraderie among them.
He underlined that Nigerian artists today have a higher degree of global exposure than their Ghanaian counterparts.
In addition, Shatta Wale criticized entertainment shows for frequently portraying him negatively. Despite this, he acknowledged that he takes advantage of these chances to turn negativity into advantages for himself.
In response to questions concerning his eligibility for a diplomatic passport, particularly from entertainment analyst Ola Michael, Shatta Wale questioned why other singers, including Stonebwoy and Sarkodie, who have also encountered problems, were not similarly singled out.
Shatta Wale stated he wants media figures to support the idea of Ghanaian artists obtaining diplomatic passports rather than denigrating specific artists during conversations. Politicians, he continued, might not take such negativity seriously, preventing progress for everyone.
Shatta Wale's comments have generated a heated debate over the health of the Ghanaian music scene and the support provided to artists. Although some people concur with his appraisal of the sector's challenges, others believe it goes too far in the opposite direction.
It remains to be seen whether Shatta Wale's remarks would lead to any significant changes in the framework that supports Ghanaian artists.
However, his comments have been effective in bringing these issues to light and igniting an important conversation about improving the state of the music industry as a whole.
