“It’s Surprising 1 Cedi And 2 Cedi Are Nothing Nowadays” – Julie Juu
In a recent social media video, seasoned Ghanaian actress Abena Achiaa, better known as Julie Juu, expressed her dismay and outrage at the exorbitant cost of living in her own country.
After residing in the United Kingdom for several years, Julie Juu, one of the major stars of the iconic Cantata TV series that aired on GTV in the 1990s and early 2000s, returned home a few weeks ago for the holidays. She was shocked, meanwhile, by the exorbitant costs of food in the nation, particularly sushi.
The actress expressed her worries after visiting a sushi restaurant where she was charged GHC 100 for a bowl of soup and sushi accompanied by a little piece of beef. The well-known actress expressed her disapproval of the state of the country's economy in a widely shared video, saying she could not imagine spending GHC 100, or one million old coins, on a single meal. She went on to contrast the cost of the dinner in Ghana with that of the one she was adopted to.
“This is completely outrageous. I cannot believe that I'm being askеd to pay Ghc 100 for just a bowl of fufu and a small piece of meat. It is surprising. I asked them what happened to the 1gh and 2gh Fufu, and I was told they cannot even buy water. This is a clеar indication of thе absurd cost of living in this country,” she said in thе vidеo.
