The world’s oldest chicken, Peanut, has departed from this life at the remarkable age of 21.
The well-known fowl passed away at her Michigan, USA, home early on Christmas Day of the previous year.
I mourn the loss of Peanut, a dear family member. Peanut’s owner, Marsi Darwin, announced her hen’s passing in a blog post. “We bonded 21 and a half years ago when I peeled her out of an egg, and although I realize she had a phenomenally long life for a chicken, I’m heartbroken nonetheless,” Darwin wrote.
Due to her extraordinary longevity, Peanut became a legendary figure in the poultry industry and attracted the interest of animal lovers everywhere.
Hatched in the year 2002., Peanut lived a full and, undoubtedly, cluck-worthy life. Her journey from a fluffy chick to the world’s oldest chicken was not only a testament to her resilience but also a source of inspiration for those fascinated by the mysteries of avian longevity.
