#VMA2019: Selorm Razzi is not a winner until….. – Ex Doggy.
Controversy surrounding some categories of the just released nominees of the Volta Music Awards 2019 keeps getting attention even as organizers try to explain the rationale behind their selection.
The Volta Music Awards established to give recognition and reward hard working artistes in the region are in their second year of operation. It is only natural to have some artistes, On-Air personalities and industry players have a bone to pick with the working body.
One of the categories that raises eyebrows is TRADITIONAL SONG OF THE YEAR. This category has only one nominee, Selorm Razzi. It rather blows the mind why we should have a lone ranger in a competitive category. Last edition saw a good number of nominees but this year's story is different.
Reacting to this and some other issues described as flaws in the process by entertainment pundits on Global Drive on Monday 21st January 2019, PR for team Ex Doggy explained to listeners that
“a couple of entries were received but didn't cut for the description of the category. Selorm Razzi's song is the only entry qualified by the category's definition“
He also alluded to the fact that live instrumentation by Selorm Razzi was taken into consideration in the fore mentioned category.
Show host Bright Ellis asked if it can be declared that Selorm Razzi is the winner ahead of time, Ex Doggy said “no, Selorm Razzi is not the winner until he gains a particular number of votes“
With regards standard in award schemes a category is no more competitive if there's only one nominee.
Ex Doggy then promised of a press release to address that category.
