“Rap Music Rules The World” – Rapper Wan O

Wan-O, a hip-hop/rap rapper, believes that rap music, also known as hip-hop, is the only music genre that actually dominates the world.

In an interview with Kojo Manuel on Y107.9FM’s Dryve of Your Lyfe, he said that, while Afrobeat appears to be very prominent in Ghana and other African countries, hip-hop is the most common genre because there is no style of music that does not have a hip-hop aspect.

“Afrobeat is African, but people are embracing hip-hop so there is no music without hip-hop influence right now. Hip-hop has also influenced afrobeat. “The way they dress is hip-hop, and the way they write their beats or sound is also hip-hop, except for the African drums and all, because hip-hop really dominates the world,” he said.

Wan-O, when asked whether rap music in Ghana is changing or not, confirmed that the rap scene is progressing.

“Back in the day, one of my heroes who I used to look up to in Ghana was Jayso Skillions; back then, we didn’t even have the fan base to help them,” he says. What people are doing now that is known is what Jayso was doing, so I believe rap music is progressing.”

Wan-O said that if Jayso had continued to do what he used to do as a musician, he would have achieved the deserved popularity by now.
