People without the Covid -19 vaccination will not be allowed entry into events this December, according to Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Mark Okraku Mantey.

The government, according to the Minister, has outlined requirements and guidelines to control and prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the December holidays.

People who have not been vaccinated but do not have vaccination cards would not be granted entry to social events, he declared on Hitz FM.

“Vaccination cards will be required for entry; you must show proof of vaccination to gain access.”

“Children from the age of five and above would require a mask,” he continued. For important occasions such as eating and drinking, masks will be removed.”

“We want to keep you, your siblings, and your family alive,” the Deputy Tourism Minister continued, “because if we get together at a certain area, especially indoor events, and we don't have some checks and balances in place, we're going to have issues beyond December.”

also said that the government will begin a “December in GH” campaign to promote tourism during the holiday season. According to him, around 150,000 people are anticipated to visit Ghana during that time, thus the government is working hard to prevent a probable surge in Covid-19 cases.

“When you go to any event, especially now that we've launched ‘December in GH,' we're saying we're aiming roughly 150,000 people visiting the country between now and January; we don't have to go and have fun and come back with Covid-19,” he added.
