Akufo Addo Should Have Said ‘Sika Nni PanPan’ – KKD
In a recent interview on Joy News, Ghanaian veteran journalist, Kwesi Kyei Darkwah (KKD), has lashed out at President Akufo Addo for saying “Sika mp3 dede” in his speech to address the nation on the recent economic hardship.
According to KKD, the president didn't use the right phrase in his speech but rather should have said money has no odour because that is what best describes his governance.
He said:
I was upset when he replied, “All of culture is entrenched in language, and that was the statement to the people who are speculating about where we are heading and how the cedi is performing poorly. He believes that the value of money would decrease if you talked it down. That's false, I repeat.
You know, as a French scholar as well, I think the better one he could have used is what is actually about his governance, which is ‘ argent n'a pas d'odeur':' sika nni panpan, ‘because if you look at Kufuor's regime, a man who was known to be corrupt, was eventually appointed by Nana Addo to become the head of the Public Procurement Authority, then it tells you that he has no problem.
