“I Was Nominated For The Grammys When I Least Expected” – Rocky Dawuni
Rocky Dawuni, the Ghanaian international reggae musician, has issued a statement regarding his Grammy nomination, which makes him the first Ghanaian musician to receive a Grammy nomination.
Rocky Dawuni was nominated for a Grammy Award for his sixth studio album, “Branches of the Same Tree.” The 58th Annual Grammy Awards awarded Best Reggae Album in December 2015.
The Ghanaian reggae musician confessed that he did not expect to be nominated for an international award.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hit FM's DayBreakHitz, he said that the Grammy nomination happened while he was not expecting or looking for one. But he was just interested in making a record in the studio.
“I got a GRAMMY nomination when I wasn't seeking for one. He explained, “I was just concentrated on making a record.”
Rocky also challenged Ghanaian musicians to focus on making logical albums that portray Ghanaian culture to the rest of the world.
“Artists should concentrate on producing highly uniform albums; a body of work that reflects our culture to the rest of the world.”
Rocky Dawuni is a legendary Ghanaian reggae artist who is known for producing genuine music that inspires and develops people.
