“Social Media Is A Pseudo-Reality” – Jim Iyke On Why He Follows No One On Instagram
Jim Iyke, the veteran Nollywood actor and businessman, has revealed why he doesn't follow anyone on Instagram.
The actor, who has over two million Instagram followers, claimed in an interview with presenter Temisan Emmanuel on the “Tea with Tay” Podcast that he does not follow anyone since he believes social media is a “marketplace.”
“I didn't want to follow anyone on social media from the beginning.” I wanted to make it clear that this is a shopping mall. There's a semblance of reality there. It's not something most people desire to do on a daily basis.
It's customized if you see any of my posts. I don't talk about my family on the internet. I don't share my delights on social media. Certain things, in my opinion, should be left to one's own experience.
My life is divided into three strata. I have three lives: one in which I am private, one in which I am public, and one in which I am secret. Social media is a reflection of public life. That is where I should go if I want to make a style statement, a statement about my philosophy and beliefs, want to promote anything, or if I want to set a new understanding of my view on something. I go there if I'm having fun with individuals who don't mind being on that platform. “
