Abeiku Santana, the media personality, has urged the relevant authorities to begin detaining people and organizations that continue to impose exorbitant charges on goods and services.

The call follows news stories about the American dollar's declining worth relative to the Ghanaian cedi.

The US dollar lost value on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, dealing with the cedi at a buying rate of 11.4943 and a selling price of 11.5058. The initial selling price of the dollar was GHC 14.000 just a few days ago.

Ghanaians had anticipated lower pricing for products and services in the wake of the event. Traders and businesses, it has been said, are reportedly refusing to lower the cost of their goods and services.

Popular Ghanaian broadcaster has urged the government to respond as a result of this.

“I beg the bulk oil distributors. Please lower your fuel prices because the value of the dollar has fallen. Companies that advertise oil ought to lower their prices as well. You must lower your prices every day in order to keep up with the daily decline in the value of the dollar. Now that the value of the dollar is declining, it's time for drivers and transportation providers to lower their charges. Additionally, the police must begin detaining people who continue to demand exorbitant charges, he added.
