‘The Earlier You Put A Stop To It, The Better’ – Fred Amugi Advises Musicians Over Lookalike Craze
Fred Amugi, a legendary Ghanaian actor, has added his voice to the doppelganger craze that has fast taken over social media in recent days.
Some singers are concerned about the situation, believing that these individuals advertising themselves as their lookalikes on social media are profiting from their hard-earned fame.
During a panel discussion on UTV's United Showbiz, the recently unveiled brand ambassador of Caveman Watches advised musicians who have some of these doppelgangers to attempt to put an end to it as soon as possible.
According to Uncle Fred, while some people may not have any malicious purpose when claiming to be a lookalike of a particular artist, others may.
He emphasized that if a doppelganger has ill intentions against a certain musician and decides to go to a group that is preparing to put on an event for money to come and perform and he/she fails to show up, it is the original musician who would face the penalties.
The ‘Borga' actor offered himself as an example, revealing that as a child, he was mistaken for the late Paul Victor Obeng KSG, also known as P. V. Obeng.
Fred Amugi stated that, although working closely with him at the Castle at the time, he never recognized the idea that he was PV, even when others approached him with items intended for the latter.
Below is a video of Uncle Fred Amugi Speaking.
