A recent interview with Ghanaian musician Amerado revealed that, against cultural expectations, he prefers to date older ladies.
In an interview with well-known radio broadcaster Nana Romeo, the singer stressed the value of keeping a healthy age difference and steering clear of extreme discrepancies, such as marrying someone his mother’s age.
Amerado stressed that if one were to examine his dating history, they would find that all of his lovers have been older than him. Women with greater life experience and maturity are naturally drawn to him.
“Regardless of what society says, I genuinely enjoy being attracted to women who are older than me. However, it’s essential to make sure the age difference is appropriate, avoiding severe discrepancies like dating someone my mother’s age. Instead, I would like a year or many years of separation,” he said.
Contrary to popular belief, Amerado made it clear that his desire does not involve taking advantage of elderly people, sometimes known as “sugar mummies,” for financial benefit. He is attracted to those who have accumulated meaningful life experiences and have a certain amount of maturity, and this attraction is real.
You’ll see that none of the ladies I’ve dated are younger than I am if you look at them.
