The Country Is Hard But Local Footballers Are Really Suffering – Saddick Adams
Sylvester Sackey, the first-choice goalkeeper for Legon Cities, passed away just one day ago, and now it has been revealed that William Essu, the other goalie for the team, is unable to care for himself since he is owed money.
This raised a lot of concern on the internet, with a lot of people showing their concern that the Ghanaian Premier League is slowing killing its own players.
However, Ghanaian sportsman Obama Saddick Adams also took to his official Twitter page to share his thoughts on the trending news, and all he could say is that the players for the local leagues are really suffering; some people take as little as 600 cedis for tickets that can fetch them a lot of money elsewhere.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote:
We say country is hard but nobody suffers more than majority of Ghanaian footballers Knowing that you find yourself in a globally lucrative field & with a talent that can readily fetch you $1,000 week in a 4th Division elsewhere but you have to settle for 600 cedis a month due to where you were born.
