“Calculations Ghana Need To Qualify For The Next Stage Have Been Made Already” – Chris Hughton
According to Ghana Black Stars coach Chris Hughton, winning their last group match against Mozambique is all that is required for his team to stay in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and escape elimination at the group stage.
Despite having the lead twice, the Black Stars were unable to resume their winning ways as they drew 2-2 with the Pharaohs on Thursday.
Hughton’s team performed far better than when they lost to Cape Verde on the opening day, but errors on defense proved to be their downfall.
Although Mohammed Kudus scored twice, Inaki Williams and Osman Bukari’s defensive errors allowed Egypt to level the match.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Hughton said no calculation would suffice except for winning against Mozambique in their last group game.
“The calculations are already made; we need a victory to pursue our dream, and I know we are capable of it,” Hughton said, as quoted by Citisports.
