“People Need To Take Comedians More Seriously” – Lawyer Nti
Richmond Xavier Amoakoh beter known as Lawyer Nti, the Ghanaian actor, director, and comedian, has urged Ghanaians to take comedians more seriously.
In an interview with Foster Romanus on e.TV Ghana's Late Nite Celebrity Show, he voiced worry about the situation and revealed that he is actively working on a solution.
“If you want change, you have to start it and you have to be part of the change process,” he stated, attempting not to divulge too much about how he is trying to initiate this change. “I am now working with several people to help in that area.”
Lawyer Nti reiterated that, regardless of what he is working on, change must begin inside the comedians themselves, and that they must respect one another in order for the audience to appreciate and take them seriously.
“If I'm organizing an event and I have Kuami Eugene, Kidi, and all these big brands in the industry, I'll pay them good money and they'll also come on stage for at least 5 minutes,” he explained, “but Foster being the MC who will be present all throughout the event, I decide not to pay him just because he's a comedian.”
This is not acceptable, according to lawyer Nti, since comedians deserve equal respect in the profession and should not be forced to perform for free while others are paid.
