“Ghana’s Music Industry is Now Like Kumawood, Hit Songs Fade Just After 3 Days ” – Ogidi Brown
According to singer Ogidi Brown, the Ghanaian music industry has now evolved into Kumawood, where songs fade away within three days of release, even if they are by prominent singers.
Speaking about the current state of the Ghana music business, Ogidi Brown likened it to Kumawood movies, claiming that it only lasts three days after release, even if the song was released by a prominent musician.
According to him, because the Ghanaian music business has evolved into Kumawood, anybody can become a musician, which is why songs published recently don't survive long, dissipating after three days of publication.
He goes on to say that even if a top artist releases a song, it doesn't last more than three days, and he's correct since some of the songs that have been published recently don't make any sense, and the better ones that do are being affected as well.
However, some songs find their way back to the airwaves after fading for some time, and such songs are lifelong classics. It is up to the artist to decide whether to compose a song that will fade away after 3 days or a song that will become a success for the rest of his or her life.
