“VGMA Is The Most Commercialized Award Scheme In Ghana” – Blakk Rasta

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, according to ace Ghanaian reggae musician Blakk Rasta, are the most commercialized and fraudulent award schemes in Ghana, with the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards being the worst of them all.

He claims that he has always regretted getting honors from Ghanaian award schemes since people had to bid and plead with their friends and supporters to vote for them to win the award, which he believes makes the award schemes excessively materialistic.

Blakk Rasta claimed in an interview with Abeiku Santana on Okay FM's Ekwansodwodwo that it makes no sense for singers to have to appeal to their followers to vote for them to win awards and that this demonstrates how crooked the award systems are.

According to him, if the award scheme's board believes a musician deserves recognition for his or her contribution to the country's music business, the artist does not need to seek votes before receiving the award.

He claimed that Stonebwoy, who had previously been barred from attending the VGMAs, had every right to seek the money he spent to get others to vote for him to win his prizes since he paid for them.

Blakk Rasta also recommended Ghana's numerous award systems reconsider and arrange their schemes if they simply want to recognize musicians for their outstanding performances in the previous year.
