No Ghanaian Movie Star Made Fortune From Acting – Pascaline Edwards Claim

According to Pascaline Edwards, who won the award for Best Female Actress in Ghana in 2002, her coworkers who assert that they have made a significant amount of money from performing alone are lying.

The actress-turned-fashion designer claimed during an interview on Onua FM's “Adwuma Adwuma” with Felicia Osei that no one could establish a business or purchase a home using only the movie industry as a source of income.

“Everybody in the business who claims to have amassed wealth from producing motion pictures is lying,” she declared.

Acting is a career that can catapult you to fame, according to Pascaline Edwards, who also addressed it.

You advance to a specific level in the film industry. It develops your brand. The cash from the movies and set is insufficient, she said, despite the possibility of rich brand ambassadorial relationships and endorsements.

She also urged young and aspiring actors to diversify their income streams by starting profitable side businesses rather than relying just on movie money.

“It's a hand-to-mouth business,” she advised, so if selling groundnuts and maize is what you have to do for a living, do that and add acting as a side gig.
