No Ghanaian artist can fill the Accra Sports Stadium, according to legendary Ghanaian sound engineer Zapp Mallet.
Ghanaian artists have come under fire for failing to put together sold-out overseas concerts at prestigious venues like the 02 Arena and the Madison Square Garden.
All of these locations have been dominated by Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Wizkid, especially the 20,000-seat 02 Arena.
Amazingly, Wizkid couldn’t draw enough people to fill the 40,000-seat Accra Sports Stadium for his live performance, named “WizkidLiveAccra,” on December 10, 2022.
Customers who had paid a significant amount of money to see the “Essence” singer perform were shocked when he declined to take the stage.
His unwillingness to play and his failure to fill the stadium have sparked a huge uproar among the entertainment community and on social media.
In response to the topic of whether a Ghanaian performer could have filled the stadium, the famous Zapp Mallet firmly said the following in an interview with Reagan Mends of GhanaWeekend.com:
“No! I’ll be completely honest with you… No Ghanaian performer is now able to fill the stadium.
Individually they can’t, but together they can.
