Willis has received numerous awards for his work, including a Golden Globe and an Emmy. He's known for his versatility and has appeared in a wide range of genres, from action to comedy to drama.

At the time of his retirement, Willis had completed 11 films awaiting release.

On February 16, 2023, Willis's family announced his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, which can cause difficulties with language and comprehension, misinterpretation of instructions, and misinterpretation of instructions. The family hopes media attention on Willis will raise awareness about the disease.
