A video of renowned gospel musician Edward Akwesi Boateng selling CDs and pendrives on the street went viral on social media, breaking the hearts of many online users.
Many believed that because Edward Akwesi Boateng was wealthy in his heyday as a music star, a gospel musician of his caliber did not deserve to be selling his own songs on the streets.
Edward Akwesi Boateng has finally come out to discuss what led him to sell on the streets after receiving a lot of feedback.
The talented musician revealed that he desperately needed money to pay for one of his four children’s school expenses in an interview with Akoma FM.
He added that even though he has tried his best to pay a huge page of the fees already, he did not have any money at home to pay the rest when his child came to inform him about the decision of the school to sack him of he did not pay the rest.
The “Makoma So Ade” hitmaker added that the only thing he felt was right to do after the son requested for the money was to sell some of the pendrives that has his songs on it to get the money.
He added that his current job as a mobile money agent does not fetch him much because he is working with a loan and as such the decision to sell in the streets of Asafo was the best thing to do.
