Stop using insults and atopa scenes in movies – Agya Koo tells GH movie directors
Agya Koo, the veteran Ghanaian actor Alex Kofi Adu, has spoken out against the widespread practice of profanity and explicit content in Ghanaian films, especially during sex scenes.
The celebrated actor, who is well-known for his comedic skills and cultural influence, has voiced his concerns about the state of the local film industry.
The movie icon expressed his worries about the depiction of graphic sex in movies during an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z. He pointed out that this type of content has a negative influence on society values, especially for younger audiences.
According to him, using profanity and offensive scenes excessively not only degrades the storytelling skill but also conveys the incorrect message to viewers, particularly younger ones.
The Kumawood actor claims that kids watch these films frequently and are easily influenced by explicit scenes and may even pick up negative behaviors like using insults.
Agya Koo went on to cite instances from other film industries, such as Bollywood, in which romantic relationships are hinted at rather than overtly shown.
