“Ghana’s Movie Industry Will Bounce Back Soon” – John Dumelo Assures
Ghanaian actor cum politician, now a farmer, John Dumelo, has stated that the Ghanaian film industry would soon resurface after a lengthy period of inactivity.
In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast's Kastle FM, the award-winning movie star stated that he hopes Ghanaians would soon resume appreciating local films.
“The movie business has taken a hit, but I'm optimistic that it will recover. So that's not an issue; I'm confident that our film industry will rebound in the future, allowing us to appreciate Ghanaian films once more.”
When asked when he last appeared in a film, John Dumelo responded, “I'm actively involved in movies and I do get movie roles.”
Meanwhile, there have been rising disagreements among industry players over the sector's demise.
While some believe that the entrance of international soap operas and telenovelas is to blame for the cinema industry's “collapse,” others believe that the government's unwillingness to invest in the industry has resulted in its demise.
