A wounded woman is seen after an airstrike hit an apartment complex in Chuhuiv, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine. On Thursday, Russian forces launched a full-scale assault on the country. On Friday, Russian troops reached northern districts of the capital Kyiv. At least 194 Ukrainians, including 57 civilians, have been killed across the country.
Police officers detain a demonstrator in Moscow during a protest against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Spontaneous anti-war protests have led to Russian police making hundreds of arrests in cities including St Petersburg and Novosibirsk.
US President Joe Biden delivers remarks on Russia’s attack on Ukraine, in the White House in Washington. “Putin chose this war, and now he and his country will bear the consequences,” Mr Biden said, describing the invasion as a premeditated attack without provocation or justification.
