Kelvyn Boy, also known as the “Afrobeats Badman,” has won the hearts and affection of Ghanaians with his Afrobeat songs and is one of the few artists in Ghana who promotes the genre.

Kelvyn Boy claimed in a recent interview with Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM that the Afrobeat genre is the only genre currently putting Africa on the map.

Kelvyn Boy shared his delight at the Afrobeat genre’s adoption in Africa as the only genre celebrating the continent and its artists.

He also said that Ghanaian musicians have not forgotten about Highlife, which is the primary source of the Afrobeat genre, but that it has been fused with other genres to create a new genre known as “Afrobeat.”

“We haven’t forgotten about Highlife. You can’t do Afrobeat without Highlife because that’s the groove, because when you hear about Afrobeat, it says it’s a mix of West African music like Nigeria’s ‘Juju,’ Highlife, and American funk, but you can’t call yourself a funk act, you have to call yourself an Afrobeat act,” he said.

Kelvyn Boy also said that Nigerians are successful in the music industry because they take their art seriously. He said that Ghanaians should learn from them because they cannot be defeated on the ground.
