Davido’s ‘Timeless’ album hits 12 Million streams in 24 hours – See His reactions
With the release of his most recent album, Timeless, David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, broke a record.
On the international streaming service Audiomack, 12 million people listened to the album the first day after it was released by the artist on March 31.
Timeless was the first single to ever reach such numbers on the site on its first day of availability. Davido expressed amazement in response to the information posted by Audiomack Africa on its official Twitter page.
Audiomack wrote; “RECORD-BREAKING: @davido's #Timeless had over 12 MILLION streams in its first 24 hours, more than any other album on Audiomack, ever! 🏆 🎉”
The DMW founder quoted the post and wrote; Woah!!!
Davido explained why he took the World Cup closing ceremony performance just a few days after the passing of his only child David Ifeanyi Adeleke Jr. in a recent interview with Beat FM in Lagos.
One month after the death of his son, he had to start rehearsals. He talked about how this affected him and how the performance went.
Ifeanyi died after drowning in a dive pool just a few days after turning three. Infeanyi was born to Davido and his fiancée Chioma Rowland in Atlanta in 2019.
The cleaning crew was the first to notice Ifeanyi underwater. The toddler was in the water for a considerable amount of time, according to a family source. They dragged him out and hurried him to the hospital, but it was too late.
Davido, who just released his latest studio album dubbed Timeless, is quoted as saying;
“Crazy. This is like a year ago we did the FIFA draw which we performed the official theme song, and I think they had like 5, 6 official theme songs but that was like the first one. And uhm, you know the vibe was cool then but I didn't really look at it like ‘oh they're gonna call me back to do the World Cup' or stuff like that.
