Appiah Dankwa, better known as , the veteran Ghanaian sound engineer, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the new crop of sound engineers in Ghana.

stated in an interview with Graphic Showbiz that most new sound engineers in Ghana are in a rush to produce songs and are not paying attention to the elements.

He claimed that they are in a rush to make more money, thus they are unwilling to spend the time to create high-quality sounds.

“A few years ago, we had some fantastic productions, but what I'm hearing now is nothing to write home about. It appears like music producers are rushing to make money and aren't paying attention to all of the factors that go into making a good song,” he said.

“I notice I'm not hearing such high-quality recordings these days when I listen to songs like Odo Nnwom, which I wrote for Kofi Nti, and Otoolege, which I wrote for Ofori Amponsah. We're meant to be moving forward, not backward, therefore I'm encouraging every music producer to get up and do something,” he says.

Appietus further stated that while the music industry is blessed with talented singers and rappers, the sound production with which these musicians work is lacking.

He went on to tell aspiring sound engineers to step up their game and create high-quality sounds.

“We have some of the best musicians when it comes to singing or rapping, but our sound engineers need to step up their game,” he remarked.
