“Social Media producing a lot of half baked individuals” – Sonnie Badu
Sonnie Badu, the UK-based Ghanaian gospel musician, has raised concerns about half-baked individuals.
What concerns him is that the kids do not want to go through the process of ascending to the top.
Sonnie Badu points out that this explains a variety of failures at the top since a proportion of people refuse to learn and go through life's processes.
“I will say this, this new generation wants to breakthrough without suffering, they want to breakthrough without mentorship, they want to breakthrough without being led, they want to breakthrough without going through the process because social media can make you popular. Everybody goes to like it so you think you are up there but if you haven't been through the process you'll fail at the top. You can't skip it.
We didn't have social media when we were growing up, so we relied on mentorship. We had individuals we looked up to, guys we considered our fathers, and we knew that when they said no, it meant no. When your mentors say no, this new generation says yeah, I'm doing it because I have this sort of perspective, and that's why most of them can't get to a particular level because they haven't taken the time to learn through the process.”
“My advise to the generation is to find a mentor, be humble to serve, and wait for your time because nobody can stop you when it's your time,” he told a group of young people in Cote D'Ivoire.
